Beebe Healthcare to Host 21st Annual ‘Walk to Remember’ on Oct. 12

Beebe Healthcare Perinatal Loss Support Services will host the 21st Annual “Walk to Remember” at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 12, at the Savannah Beach, 206 Bay Avenue, in Lewes. In case of rain, the event will be held the following Sunday.

The Walk to Remember is held annually to offer families the opportunity to honor the memory of babies who have died through tubal pregnancy, miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal, or infant death. Beebe’s event is the only Walk to Remember held in the State of Delaware to specifically commemorate pregnancy and infant loss. Similar walks take place nationwide each fall in honor of October’s designation as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month.

Participants may pre-register or register onsite the day of the walk. Attendees will gather at the parking lot near the beach before the half mile walk and then will proceed as a group along the beach. At the end of the walk, a short memorial service will take place to honor the memory of babies who have died through tubal pregnancy, miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal, and infant death.

Parents wishing to have the names of their infant(s) included in the program must submit a registration form prior to Oct. 8. Participants may choose to purchase a memorial shirt for $15.

For more information about the walk, to register, or to provide contributions, contact Anna Drocella, RN, at 302-645-3100 x5872. Voluntary donations accepted to help offset costs associated with the “Walk to Remember” annual event. Checks may be made payable to Beebe Medical Foundation with the memo line stating, “supporting perinatal services.” All donations are tax deductible.
