Beebe’s Pink Ribbon Open House Set for October 22: Celebrating Survivors of Breast Cancer
Beebe Healthcare’s Robert and Eolyne Tunnell Cancer Center will host its inaugural Pink Ribbon Open House for survivors of breast cancer on Monday, October 22 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Tunnell Cancer Center located at 18947 J. Williams Highway, Rehoboth Beach, Del. The Pink Ribbon Open House is free, but online registration is required at: https://pinkribbonopenhouse.eventbrite.com.
“Over the last several decades, many strides have been made in the advancements of breast cancer treatments. With more survivors than ever, it is with great pride that we are able to honor those in Sussex County who have fought this disease. With survival, however, comes the responsibility of maintaining well-being. This survivor celebration will guide participants through the steps needed to maintain a healthy lifestyle—including nutrition, exercise, and stress relief techniques,” said Judith Ramirez, EdD, Manager of Oncology Population Health, Beebe’s Tunnell Cancer Center.
The Open House provides the opportunity to meet and greet with breast cancer specialists as well as network with other survivors. A variety of health and wellness workshops will be offered on every half-hour. In addition, numerous vendors will be available to offer tips on health, wellness, and fashion. Free flu shots will be offered at the event. There will be food and musical entertainment. Drawings and prizes will be awarded throughout the event.
“To my fellow cancer survivors, we got through this and are stronger because of it,” said Cindy Beaver, Breast Cancer Survivor and local LIVESTRONG coach.
Beebe Healthcare is partnering with Pink Ribbon Boutique to celebrate survivors of breast cancer as well as showcase ongoing supportive services available, including the latest in mastectomy and lymphedema products.
“We are grateful to all of the individuals and organizations who have agreed to join in this special celebration of life,” added Ramirez.
This event also offers an opportunity for survivors of breast cancer to provide input to further develop and shape the future of the Beebe Breast Center. Beebe Healthcare is the only health system in Sussex County (and state) with an NAPBC accredited program that ensures the quality of imaging, diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship services to those in our community.
