Hundreds Tour Beebe Healthcare’s New Health Center in Long Neck

The crowd spilled into the parking lot for Wednesday’s ribbon cutting at the Long Neck Health Center, home to Beebe Primary Care Long Neck where the growing Family Medicine Residency cares for patients.
Hundreds would tour the two-story building, featuring more than 20 exam and treatment rooms and scheduled dozens of new primary care appointments.
With the arrival of additional faculty this fall and four more resident physicians this summer, the office will be able to offer nearly 20,000 appointments throughout the year, which significantly expands access to care for the community.
“By investing in physician education and recruitment, Beebe is not only increasing access to care today but also building a pipeline of dedicated doctors who will serve Sussex County for years to come,” said Paul R. Sierzenski, MD, MSHQS, CPE, FACEP, Senior Vice President and Chief Physician Executive, Beebe Healthcare. “This is just one way Beebe is proactively addressing the national clinician shortage and ensuring continuity of care for our community.”
With faculty specializing in certain aspects of family medicine, they’re able to train the resident physicians and offer more services within the scope of primary care. Talk to the care team for more information, but examples include:
- Primary care for all ages, with a focus on health, wellness, and quality of life
- Comprehensive women’s health services
- Obstetrical services, including pre- and post-natal care
- Men’s health services
- Pediatric care
- Behavioral health programs and services
- General dermatology services
- Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, to optimize preventive care and streamline healing
- Point of Care ultrasound
- Health education and wellness guidance
“This is a remarkable achievement for Beebe and for those in need of access to care in Sussex County,” said Joyce Robert, MD, FAAFP, Founding Program Director, Family Medicine Residency. “This beautiful new facility provides our current and future residents with space and resources to serve a culturally diverse and rapidly growing population. I’m so honored to lead this talented and dedicated team of staff and clinicians.”
Much of this would not be possible without the support of the philanthropic community in Sussex County, including $1 million from Highmark’s BluePrints for the Community, $1.5 million of Congressional Direct Spending from Sen. Tom Carper’s office in 2024, along with the support of other federal leaders in Delaware, as well as generous donations from M&T Bank and PNC. Beebe is also grateful to the Ma-Ra foundation for establishing the R. Randall Rollins center for medical education with its $3 million gift. The transformational gift that empowered baby to move forward with the medical residency program
“The support at Wednesday’s Long Neck Health Center Open House is a clear indication of how the whole community supports Beebe as the independent, nonprofit community health system focused solely on Sussex County,” said Kay Young, Executive Director of Development, Beebe Medical Foundation. “We are so grateful for our donors, 1916 Club members, team members, and leadership. The sense of community supporting Beebe’s growth to provide the highest quality care to Sussex County continues to inspire and amaze our Foundation team.”

The new Long Neck facility joins Beebe Health Centers in Georgetown, Millsboro, Millville, Milford, and Milton along with three Health Campuses: Margaret H. Rollins Lewes Campus, Abessinio in Rehoboth, and South Coastal in Millville. A fourth is planned in Millsboro.
“We’ve seen the growth in Sussex County, especially in the middle, which includes the Long Neck and Millsboro area. Beebe is fully committed to growing in innovative ways to care for every member of our community,” said David A. Tam, MD, MBA, CPHE, FACHE, President & CEO, Beebe Healthcare. “Beebe is meeting this challenge head on by expanding access to high-quality, compassionate care in the areas where it’s needed most. Thank you to our dedicated team, our generous donors, and our community partners for making this vision a reality.”
