The Miracle Angels of Israel United Methodist Church in Lewes, led by the Rev. Marjorie Belmont, recently presented Beebe Medical Foundation with an impressive $8,531 donation to support Beebe Healthcare’s Cancer Patient Special Needs Fund. This remarkable contribution continues the church's longstanding tradition of fundraising for local cancer patients.

The Miracle Angels group, along with families and friends from Israel United Methodist Church and Friendship United Methodist Church, raises funds through various community events, including yard sales, bake sales, and special gatherings. This marks their 14th year of dedicated support for Beebe’s Oncology Services, which cares for patients with two comprehensive cancer centers in Sussex County.

“Our congregation has been profoundly touched by cancer over the years,” said Sister Betty J. Streett, a Miracle Angels member. “We are committed to wearing a different cancer survivorship color each year to honor those we’ve lost and to show solidarity with those still fighting. This year, for our “Rainbow of Hope” worship service, we chose purple for all cancers and the families wore their respective cancer survivors’ colors, symbolizing a rainbow of hope and the strength to continue the fight.”

Lighted luminaria bags were presented in honor of and in memory of and displayed in the sanctuary.

Since 1999, the Miracle Angels of Israel United Methodist Church have worked tirelessly to support cancer patients in Sussex County, with annual donations going directly to Beebe’s Tunnell Cancer Center and South Coastal Cancer Center. Their contributions, totaling over $58,000, have provided critical aid to local patients by staying within the community and helping those in need.

“Donations to the Cancer Patient Special Needs Fund directly benefit qualifying patients, providing essential support for emergent expenses such as transportation, utility bills, medical supplies, and nutritional needs,” said Maurice Winkfield, Executive Director of Beebe Healthcare’s Oncology Services. “We are incredibly grateful for the Miracle Angels' unwavering dedication. Their generous contributions allow survivors to focus on healing rather than financial strain.”

As a community-based, not-for-profit healthcare system, Beebe Healthcare relies on the generous support of local organizations, individuals, and businesses. To learn more about how to support Beebe’s Oncology Services, visit beebemedicalfoundation.org or call 302-644-2900.
