For the 12th consecutive year, a group of surf anglers have come together for a day of fun on the water, for the benefit of patients undergoing cancer care at Beebe.
This year’s “Cast for a Cure” fishing tournament united over 100 anglers of all ages and levels of experience, and resulted in a $10,000 gift to the Beebe Medical Foundation. Funds generated from this annual event are donated to Beebe’s Cancer Patient Special Needs Fund, which helps local cancer patients who are facing financial hardships in the midst of their treatment.
Cast for a Cure was founded in 2013 and since that time, has raised more than $50,000 in support of Beebe and its oncology patients. The tournament is held annually at Fenwick Island State Park Beach.
“The event has grown into something really special,” said Brandy Timmons, a member of the Cast for a Cure planning committee. “It’s about more than fishing; it’s about doing something we love while giving back to the people in our community. We’re proud to support Beebe’s oncology patients in this way.”
