Three Wellness Programs to Jumpstart Your 2026 with Beebe Healthcare

 

Beebe Healthcare is sharing a number of health education opportunities for members of the community to learn and take an active role in improving their health and wellness early in the New Year.

What’s Your Risk? Know Your Numbers!
 

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. Knowing your numbers is the first step toward reducing risk factors and living a longer and healthier life. Together we will discuss and compare normal and abnormal results. You will have an opportunity to learn your numbers, nurses from Beebe will offer blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol screenings at this preventive health event.

Additionally, they will be available to discuss screening results and the steps that can be taken to improve numbers as needed. This event is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 5, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Selbyville Public Library, located at 11 W. McCabe Street in Selbyville.

There is no cost to participate, and registration is not required.

National Diabetes Prevention Program
 

This year-long educational program provides guidance and support for those diagnosed with pre-diabetes, previously diagnosed with gestational diabetes, or identified as high risk for diabetes. Individuals must also be age 18 and older and have a body mass index of 25 or higher (23 or higher for the Asian American population) and have not been previously diagnosed with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes or end-stage renal disease.

The program aims to teach people how to eat healthier, add physical activity to their daily routines, how to manage stress, and how to stay motivated to improve their health.

Participants meet weekly for four months and will then transition to a maintenance plan for the duration of the program. Meetings will take place at the Selbyville Public Library, located at 11 W. McCabe Street in Selbyville, on Mondays from 12:30-1:30 p.m., with the first meeting date set for Jan. 26, 2026.

Workshop: Healthy Living with Chronic Conditions
 

This six-week program is designed to help adults who are living with a chronic health issue, or who want to prevent the development of chronic conditions. Attendees will be encouraged to share their experiences and challenges and help one another solve problems as they work together to improve their health and live happy and fulfilling lives, despite their medical issues.

Key topics for discussion will include techniques for managing frustration, fatigue, pain, and isolation, the benefits of exercise and ways to maintain and improve strength, flexibility, endurance, medication management, effective communication, and decision-making and problem-solving.

Classes are open to adults of all ages and abilities. This program is offered by Beebe Healthcare in partnership with the Delaware Division of Public Health. Meetings will take place on Wednesdays from noon to 2:30 p.m. at the Ocean View Cheer Center, located at 30637 Cedar Road in Ocean View.

The first meeting is scheduled for Feb. 4, 2026. There is no cost to participate but registration is required and can be completed by calling 302-645-3210, or by visiting www.healthydelaware.org.
