Since it was established in 1989, Beebe Medical Foundation has been raising money to help fulfill Beebe Healthcare’s not-for-profit charitable mission, which is to encourage healthy living, prevent illness, and restore optimal health to the people residing, working, or visiting the communities it serves. As an independent, not-for-profit hospital, Beebe Healthcare could not serve our growing community without local philanthropy.
Since the first major philanthropic gift made to Beebe Healthcare by Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin F. Shaw to build and equip a 35-bed, state-of-the-art medical facility in 1921, more than $52 million has been raised to fund new and ongoing medical programs, purchase life saving medical equipment, and for the construction and renovation of medical facilities. Beebe Medical Foundation has also established an endowment fund to ensure Beebe Healthcare will always be available for our community. Beebe has a proud history more than 100 years of service and continues to be the primary healthcare provider and is now in 7 locations throughout Sussex County.
Beebe Healthcare remains an independent community health system with a vision of making Sussex County one of the healthiest counties in the nation. Beebe recognizes that it cannot achieve this goal on its own. Partnerships like the Healthier Sussex County initiative with Bayhealth and Nanticoke Health Services have been created to help coordinate health promotion and education.
