Pulmonary Rehab: Improve Your Health and Strength at Beebe

By Pam Lowe, BS, RRT Lead Pulmonary Rehab Specialist

If you have been diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), Post-COVID, pulmonary fibrosis, interstitial lung disease, or another complex lung condition, you may benefit from the services offered by Beebe’s Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program.

Many patients rely on our Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program following discharge from the hospital, gradually improving their health over a period of three months with ongoing exercise and education. We work with you to improve your physical strength while also addressing the importance of mental health, nutrition, and the impact of complex lung conditions on other parts of the body – all with a goal to help you optimize your overall health. This program is insurance-based, and is available in the Medical Arts Building on Beebe’s Rehoboth Health Campus, located on Rt. 24.

Patients in need of a long-term exercise program can also rely on Beebe’s Pulmonary Rehabilitation team. We recently opened a new location at Lighthouse Plaza in Rehoboth, located just off Rt. 1. Here, we aim to increase your strength, stamina, and endurance, as well as independence in daily living. The cost for this service is an out-of-pocket expense for patients, but is incredibly reasonable. A “gym membership” can be purchased for just $25 per month.

At both locations, our board-certified pulmonologists, exercise physiologists, and respiratory therapists will work to optimize your lung health and quality of life. We want you to understand how to best manage chronic lung disease, and emphasize that we can work together to minimize the likeliness that you will require admission, or re-admission, to the hospital for treatment.

Talk with your physician about pulmonary rehabilitation, and if you could benefit from these important services. Your doctor can refer you to our program by calling 302-645-3579, or faxing your diagnostic testing results to 302-645-3239.

We look forward to serving you!
