Jeffrey Hawtof, MD, FAAFP
Director, Provider IT
and Medical Education

Jeffrey Hawtof, MD, FAAFP, serves as Director of Provider IT and Medical Education at Beebe Healthcare. In this role, he is responsible for leading, shaping and directing medical education at Beebe Healthcare. He is board certified in family medicine and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Hawtof earned his medical degree at the Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia. He then completed the Family Medicine Residency at Riverside Regional Medical Center in NewportNews, Virginia. He was the Chief Medical Officer for Beebe Healthcare for 10 years before becoming the Director of Medical Education. Dr. Hawtof sees his patients at Beebe Family Practice – Beacon.
“I am personally vested in the development and launch of Beebe’s medical education programs, including the Family Medicine Residency because I know from my own experience just how valuable residency training is, in the pursuit of a career in medicine. We are building a curriculum that will give our residents exposure to all facets of family medicine and will prepare them to work as family care providers who can make a positive difference in the lives of others. Tanya Ray, MS
Administrative Director,
Graduate Medical Education

Tanya Ray, MS, serves as Administrative Director of Graduate Medical Education at Beebe Healthcare. In this role, she is the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education’s (ACGME) designated institutional official. She is responsible for guiding Beebe through the process of becoming a new teaching hospital, in alignment with ACGME requirements and the organization’s commitment to infrastructure development, the achievement of financial stability, and the cultivation of an educational environment that is diverse and experiential in nature. Ms. Ray is a graduate of Delaware Valley College (now known as Delaware Valley University) and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM), where she earned a master’s degree in organizational development and leadership. She is currently pursuing a certificate in health professions education from the University of Pennsylvania. “It is incredibly exciting to have the opportunity to build Beebe’s medical education programs. We are applying best practices from the industry while also integrating our own unique components to our training programs. This means we are creating learning opportunities that are truly robust and all encompassing, and will be rewarding for medical students and residents on both personal and professional levels. So much opportunity lies in front of us, and I am proud to be part of a team that is building something very special and meaningful – not only for our learners but also for the people in my community.”
Joyce Robert, MD, FAAFP
Program Director,
Family Medicine Residency

Joyce Robert, MD, FAAFP, is Program Director of Family Medicine Residency at Beebe Healthcare. She is responsible for developing, designing, and implementing a new, community-based residency program, accounting for strategic planning, research, curriculum development, planning of scholarly activities, and faculty recruitment and development. She is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. She recently earned a Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate, presented by University of South Florida Muma College of Business. Dr. Robert is a graduate of SUNY Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn, New York. She completed her post graduate training in the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Program – Downtown Residency in Urban Family Medicine. Dr. Robert has 10 years’ experience teaching at one of the largest residencies and fellowship programs in the nation. She is excited to start the family medicine residency at Beebe Healthcare. Dr. Robert sees patients at Beebe Family Practice – Long Neck; the future site of the Family Medicine Residency Continuity Clinic.

Michael Kalil,DO
Medical Director,
Undergraduate Medical Education

Michael Kalil, DO, serves as Medical Director of Undergraduate Medical Education at Beebe Healthcare. In this role, he ensures educational opportunities for third and fourth-year medical students, including clinical rotations, are meeting the goals and objectives as outlined by affiliated medical schools. Board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Kalil earned his medical degree at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia. He then went on to complete his residency in Internal Medicine at the Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He has been part of Beebe Healthcare’s medical staff since 2017, where in addition to his commitments to medical education, he serves an internal medicine hospitalist. “There is so much good that comes from a healthcare system’s decision to launch medical education programs. Beebe’s partnership with PCOM and the Family Medicine Residency will draw new talent into Sussex County. In addition to creating a superb learning opportunity for aspiring physicians, it will streamline the process of care and create better access to care for our patients. This is a true win-win, and one that I am proud to be part of.”
