Delaware First Lady Carla Markell will speak in Lewes on Saturday, July 2 at Cape Henlopen High School
Delaware First Lady Carla Markell will give an inspirational presentation on “Self-Empowerment” on Saturday, July 2, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the Cape Henlopen High School auditorium in Lewes.
Mrs. Markell’s presentation is part of the free Rock Your Life Community Seminars that are part of Beebe Healthcare’s 100th anniversary celebrations.
Mrs. Markell will share personal stories of her own journey to self-empowerment and share her hope for listeners to “reach into people’s lives to help,” as she puts it. This seminar will leave listeners empowered to take control of their own life, become really engaged, and find their true passion!
Mrs. Markell became First Lady of Delaware when her husband, Governor Jack Markell, was sworn into office in 2009. As First Lady, she has focused on at-risk children and encouraging volunteerism. A mentor to several young people over the last decade, she personally has seen how the commitment of a caring adult can make a real difference in the lives of young people.
Mrs. Markell believes that mentoring and self-empowerment can transform lives. As First Lady, she has spent much of her time visiting agencies and companies throughout the state to meet with staff, volunteers, and members of the community. She has served on the board of directors for Delaware Theatre Company (DTC). She was honored in 2007 with the Stephen Daniel Faulk Volunteer Award. In January 2009, she and Governor Markell co-chaired the Weekend of Volunteer Service, held in lieu of an inaugural ball. She is excited to share her personal stories and lessons.
There are two more Rock Your Life seminars planned for Beebe’s 100th anniversary celebration. They are:
