Beebe Healthcare Honors 22 Recent Retirees from Multiple Boards
Beebe Healthcare recently thanked 22 retired board members from Beebe, the medical group, and foundation. Normally an annual event, the ceremony had not occurred since February 2020.
This year’s event was at the Lighthouse Cove Event Center in Dewey Beach on Monday, April 11. Thank you to all of these various board members and ambassadors.
2020 Retirees from the Beebe Healthcare Board of Directors
Wesley E. Perkins
Perkins joined the Beebe Board of Directors in 2014 and served for six years. He chaired the Root Cause Analysis Board Committee and still serves on the Quality and Safety Committee as a community member. He also participates on the Populations of Inequities Coalition.
Anis K. Saliba, MD
Dr. Saliba joined Beebe in 1968 as a General, Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeon. He was appointed to the Board of Directors in 1988 and served for 33 years. Over those years as a physician, Dr. Saliba served in many capacities including President of the Medical Staff and Chief of Staff. Dr. Saliba also served on many committees for the Board of Directors including chair of the Population Health Committee and a member of Root Cause and Quality and Safety Committees, just to name a few. He is a distinguished Emeritus Member for the Board of Directors and Honorary member of the Medical Staff. Dr. Saliba recently retired from Beebe Medical Group Board of Directors and was also recognized for his 23 years of service on the BMG Board.
R. Michael Clemmer
Clemmer started at Beebe as the Executive Director of the Beebe Medical Foundation and after his retirement was recruited to the Board of Directors. Clemmer served six years from 2014 to 2020 and served on various committees including the Governance Committee.
Daniel Cuozzo, DO
Dr. Cuozzo served on the Beebe Board representing the Beebe Medical Group as their Chairman. He served on the Beebe Board for one year from 2019 to 2020 and is also recognized as a retiree from the Beebe Medical Group Board serving for seven years including Chairman of the BMG Board. 2021 Retirees from the Beebe Healthcare Board of Directors
Gregory Bahtiarian, DO
Dr. Bahtiarian was appointed to the Board in 2015 and served for six years. He is a member of Beebe’s Medical Staff. Dr. Bahtiarian served on the Root Cause Analysis and Quality and Safety Committees prior to his retirement from the board of directors.
Wilson Choy, MD
Dr. Choy is a member of the Beebe Healthcare Medical Staff and was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2015, serving for seven years.
Janet B. McCarty
McCarty joined the Board of Directors in 1994 where she served for 27 years before retiring in 2021. She served as Vice Chair of the Beebe Board for seven years and the Chair of the Board of Directors from 2005 to 2010. She served on every board committee over her tenure including the Chair of the Joint Conference Committee. McCarty was a member of the Beebe Medical Foundation Board for 18 years. The Beebe Healthcare Board recently appointed her as Chair Emeritus.
Michael L. Wilgus
Wilgus joined the Beebe Board of Directors in 2007. He served on a variety of committees including the Executive Committee and served as the Chair for many years of the Pension Committee and Real Estate Committee. He retired from the Board in 2021 serving 14 years.
James W. Bartle
Bartle was employed by Beebe as the Chief Financial Officer for 25 years before retiring in 2013. He was appointed to the Beebe Board of Directors in 2014 serving for seven years. He served as the Chair for the Audit and Compliance Committee during his time on the Board.
Frank Czerwinski
Czerwinski joined the Beebe Board of Directors in 2014 and served for seven years before retiring this past year. He is also recognized by the Beebe Medical Group Board of Directors. He served on the BMG Board for four years until 2020.
David Herbert
Herbert joined the Beebe Board of Directors in 2012 after serving as a consultant for the root cause analysis process. He served as Vice Chair for a year and half and became the Board Chairman in October 2017. He served the Beebe Board of Directors for nine years before retiring this past fall. He is also recognized for serving on the Beebe Medical Foundation and Beebe Medical Group Boards of Directors as ex-officio member; he retired from those boards in 2021.

William Swain Lee
Judge Lee was appointed to the Beebe Medical Foundation Board of Directors as an ex-officio member when he became the Chairman of the Beebe Medical Center Board of Directors in 2010. Judge Lee served the Beebe Board as Chairman for seven years and is a Chairman Emeritus for the Board of Directors. He was appointed as a regular member of the Beebe Medical Foundation Board of Directors and served until October 2020 for a total of 10 years.

Paul Cowan, DO
Dr. Cowan served as the Treasurer for the Beebe Healthcare Board of Directors from 2010 to 2020. As Treasurer of the Board, he served as an ex-officio member of the Beebe Medical Group Board for 10 years. He continues to serve on the Beebe Healthcare Board of Directors having reached his 12th year. He retired in 2020 from the Beebe Medical Group Board of Directors.
Maria Haldar, MD
Dr. Haldar served as a member of the BMG Board from 2013 to 2020. She is employed by Beebe Medical Group and is a member of Beebe Healthcare's Medical Staff.
George Kluchnik
Kluchnik was appointed to the Beebe Medical Group Board of Directors in 2014 and he served seven years before retiring in 2021. Beebe Medical Foundation Board of Ambassadors
Joseph Cascia
Cascia joined the Board of Ambassadors in 2016 and served for four years.
Sumner and Bonnie Crosby
The Crosbys served the Board of Ambassadors for seven years before retiring last fall.
Maureen Hurst
The Board of Ambassadors recognize Maureen Hurst for her contribution to their Board. Hurst passed away this past November and served the Board of Ambassadors for seven years.
Shelly Kennedy
Kennedy served the Board of Ambassadors for nine years joining in 2011 and retiring in 2020.
Drew Sunderlin
Sunderlin served the board for six years joining in the fall of 2014 and retiring in the fall of 2020.
Rob Tunnell
Tunnell has served on the Board of Ambassadors since 2020 having finished his wife Mindi’s term. She was appointed to the Board of Ambassadors in 2006 and is currently a member of the Beebe Medical Foundation Board of Directors.
