Beebe Healthcare’s Auxiliary Donates Record Amount to Health System
Beebe Healthcare’s Auxiliary recently donated a record $325,000 to the nonprofit health system to assist with needs at the Rehoboth Health Campus – home to the Specialty Surgical Hospital, Tunnell Cancer Center, Outpatient Surgery Center, the Rehoboth Walk-In, and many additional medical offices.
The check was presented to Tom Protack, President of the Beebe Medical Foundation, and David A. Tam, MD, MBA, CPHE, FACHE, President & CEO, Beebe Healthcare by Wendell Alfred, Auxiliary President.
The Auxiliary has been raising funds for Beebe since 1936 and has donated more than $5 million in those years. Its sole purpose is to promote and advance the welfare of Beebe and its patients.
The millions have helped fund various Beebe needs, including a new ultrasound machine, the Cardiovascular department, the Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing, the Chapel at the Lewes Campus, the Georgetown Health Campus, two hyperbaric chambers at Beebe Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine, special wheelchairs for patients visiting the medical center and Tunnell Cancer Center, and much more.
This is all thanks to the dedicated men and women of the Auxiliary, which is seeking new members to lead the next era of this historic organization. There are two membership levels: Active members may volunteer in a way that meets their personal abilities and time restraints. Inactive members support the Auxiliary as ambassadors of goodwill.
