Beebe Healthcare Named Among Best Hospitals in Delaware by U.S. News & World Report
Beebe Healthcare ranked No. 2 in Delaware, according to the recently released U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospital rankings. Only about 12% of hospitals earned a “Best Hospitals” ranking. Hospitals awarded a “Best” designation excelled at factors such as clinical outcomes, level of nursing care, and patient experience. Beebe was the only southern Delaware hospital to earn a regional ranking thanks to high performance in numerous categories. Beebe was named “High Performing” in seven specialty areas for procedures and conditions, including colon cancer surgery, diabetes, heart attack, hip replacement, knee replacement, lung cancer surgery, and pneumonia. This is the highest distinction a hospital can earn in these ratings.
Beebe Healthcare Earns 3 Quality Awards for Heart and Stroke Care from the American Heart Association
Beebe Healthcare has earned three key quality indicator awards for Heart and Stroke Care from the American Heart Association’s 2023 Get With The Guidelines® program! Beebe’s designations recognized quality care for heart attack, heart failure, and stroke patients. These awards recognize hospital cardiovascular and stroke teams across the U.S. that apply the latest scientific guidelines in the patient care environment and are achieving measurable patient outcome improvements as a result. Designations are presented based on data reported the previous year. Beebe is consistently awarded these annual honors. Beebe’s 2023 Get with Guidelines awards include:
Mission Lifeline® - STEMI Receiving Center – GOLD PLUS. This award recognizes the implementation of quality treatment and care coordination for patients who seek care at Beebe during or after experiencing a heart attack. It underscores the importance of rapid, research-based care as patients suffer from ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), a heart attack that is known to be more severe and life-threatening than others.
Get with the Guidelines Heart Failure Gold Plus with Target Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll. Beebe earned this award based on its demonstrated commitment to treating heart failure patients according to the most up-to-date clinical guidelines outlined by the American Heart Association.
Get with the Guidelines - Stroke - GOLD PLUS. Beebe earned this award based on its daily commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines, ultimately leading to more lives saved and disabilities reduced.

Beebe Healthcare is proud to announce that Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Delaware has recognized the not-for-profit healthcare system with a Blue Distinction Center for Cardiac Care designation. Blue Distinction Centers are nationally designated providers that show expertise in delivering improved patient safety and better health outcomes, based on objective measures that were developed with input from the medical community and leading accreditation and quality organizations.

Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Delaware has recognized Beebe Healthcare with a Blue Distinction Center for Maternity Care designation as part of the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program. Beebe Healthcare has been awarded with Intensive Cardiac Rehabilitation re-certification.
Pulmonary Rehabilitation Certified by Industry Leader

Tunnell Cancer Center Earns National Recognition for Quality
The Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons has granted a Three-Year Accreditation with Commendation to the Tunnell Cancer Center at Beebe. This is the fourth time that Tunnell Cancer Center has gained the coveted Commendation designation as part of the Certificate of Accreditation.
Breast Health Program Granted Accreditation
Beebe Healthcare has again been granted a three-year/Full accreditation designation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a program administered by the American College of Surgeons. The designation represents a 2021 renewal for Beebe Healthcare, which earned the accreditation first in 2013 and was the first organization in Delaware to do so.
Beebe is Baby Friendly
Beebe was granted re-certification as a Baby-Friendly Hospital in 2019. Beebe was first designated as a Baby-Friendly™ Hospital in 2013, reflecting its commitment to the optimal level of care for infant feeding and mother-and-infant bonding. Beebe Healthcare is the first organization in Delaware to earn this international designation, launched as part of the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) in 1991 by the World Health Organization and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
Safe Sleep Champion 2021
Beebe Healthcare has been recognized by the National Safe Sleep Hospital Certification Program as a “Safe Sleep Champion,” for its commitment to best practices and education on infant safe sleep. This is a five-year designation. The National Safe Sleep Hospital Certification Program was created by Cribs for Kids®, a Pittsburgh-based organization dedicated to preventing infant, sleep-related deaths due to accidental suffocation.
Beebe Healthcare, a Cribs for Kids® partner, also has been recognized for following the safe sleep guidelines recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and for providing training programs for parents, staff and the community.
NICHE Designated Site Since 2011
Since 2011, Beebe has been designated as a NICHE (Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders) location. The vision of NICHE is for all patients 65 and over to be given sensitive and exemplary care.
Beebe Laboratory Services Accreditations
Beebe Healthcare laboratory is staffed by 75 team members working in roles that include, but are not limited to: phlebotomist, laboratory assistant, medical technologist, specimen processor, client services representative, transcriptionist and courier. Beebe also has three pathologists on staff.
The laboratory has received accreditation from the College of American Pathologists and our Blood Bank holds aabb accreditation. Beebe’s lab is also Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) certified for Point of Care testing, Microbiology, Serology, Immunology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Endocrinology, Toxicology, Hematology, Transfusion Medicine, Histopathology, Cytology, as well as several other subspecialties.

Beebe Healthcare is committed to quality for all patients. Beebe is a voluntary participant in Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade. This grade is a public service provided by The Leapfrog Group, an independent nonprofit organization committed to driving quality, safety, and transparency in the U.S. health system.
Beebe Earns "Most Wired" Designation
Beebe Healthcare was recognized with the 2023 “Most Wired” designation by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME). The annual survey assesses how healthcare organizations apply core and advanced technologies into their clinical and business programs to improve health and care in their communities.
